Richard Buckner (USA) & Ian Clement (BE)

For those in-the-know Richard Buckner has been at the forefront of America's alternative country scene for nearly 20 years now. Critically acclaimed and hailed by artists such as Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Richmond Fontaine as a major influence, Richard has often found himself in the company of some of alt-country's (and beyond) most prominent musicians including Syd Straw, Marc Ribot, Tortoise, Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth and members of Calexico to name just a few. His latest album 'Surround' is being released by the hipper-than-hip US label Merge (Arcade Fire, Lambchop, Connor Oberst and, of course, Superchunk) and mixed by none other than indie super-producer Tucker Martine (Sufjan Stevens, Neko Case, My Morning Jacket).

Richard doesn't often make it to Brussels (let alone Belgium) so we're very proud, and indeed very lucky, to have him set down for a special showcase with us here at L'Archiduc. Remember: Seating is limited (strictly limited to 80) so be sure to get your tickets early.

“a gruff yet honeyed voice so enveloping that it feels more like a place you go than a sound you hear. “ - Pitchfork

“Richard Buckner’s voice — a husky, quivering moan equal parts Dwight Yoakam, Nick Cave, and an agitated grizzly bear — deserves the spotlight it’s gotten on his dark country-folk albums.” - Spin

"…alt-country’s outlaw impressionist" - Dusted Magazine

Ian Clement: Apart from exorcizing his demons as frontman of Wallace Vanborn, Ian Clement has recently outed himself as a willful singer songwriter on his own. Bringing a deep, intimate voice to the set, with both dark and bright songs, Clement conjures an original world, packed with a lot of imagination. The release of his debut record is scheduled for early 2013.
